A fine quality flame mahogany 8 day longcase clock by John Wallace of Leven, Fife, Scotland.
Maker John Wallace of Leven (Fife Scotland) working 1790 - 1835.
Date 1810
Height 6ft 10” Width 17” Depth 8.5”
The high quality “Gentleman’s Library” style case constructed from beautifully figured flame mahogany. The break arch hood with cast brass bezel, surmounted by a shaped single pedestal with cast brass ball finial. The long trunk door with choice curled mahogany veneers, flanked by quarter turned finely reeded columns. The moulded box base surmounted on a skirted plinth.
The circular white enamelled dial with subsidiary seconds and date zones, signed to the centre Jon Wallace Leven.
The high quality movement of eight day duration united by four knopped pillars, anchor escapement and striking the hours on a single bell.
Original cast iron weights and heavy brass bob pendulum with steel strap.
Fine blued steel hands of eliptical design. All of our clocks have been sympathetically restored and have been expertly vetted for originality and good working order. All clocks purchased from us are guaranteed for two years.
