Fine Scottish Mahogany Longcase Grandfather Clock Edinburgh Longcase Grandfather %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
We are delighted to offer for sale this superb Georgian mahogany longcase clock by Laurence Dalgliesh of Ebinburgh who was working from 1771 to 1808 having been apprenticed to his father John . This antique clock would date circa 1780
The mahogany case is of excellent quality with only the very finest timbers used to produce a clock of outstanding slim proportions . The full length trunk door and base are highlighted with box wood stringing. The swan neck hood has typical very fine box wood fretts to highlight the dial which has brass corinthium capped fluted pillars. Please study the swan neck paterae which are beautifully made. Side glasses allow the movement to be seen.
The 12 inch brass and chapter ring dial is signed by the maker and has a useful strike / silence dial in the arch
Unusually the calendar is read by a third sweep hand and interestingly the is a lengthy resume of the maker affixed to the inside of the case
The 8 day duration bell striking movement is of high quality and is in perfect working order having been recently restored
Hopefully the images should show the item accurately but prospective buyers are urged to view this clock to see how nice it really is.
This is a genuine and original clock and I offer a full money back guarantee to this end
The overall condition is outstanding for any item of this great age with only the odd age related mark and bruise as can be expected. It is ready to go straight into the home and the overall condition will not disappoint the most discerning client .

It is a good size being only 7ft 2 1/2 inches tall to the top of the centre finial, 20 inches at its widest point and 10 1/2 inches deep. The centre of the trunk is only 13 1/4 inches wide.
I would encourage interested parties to view the clock and my limited photographic skill do it no favours at all and certainly do not show the quality of the finish.
My direct contact details are at the bottom of most of my listings should any interested party wish to get in touch.
Domestic buyers are requested to use alternative means of payment to Pay Pal is at all possible.
