A fine Regency period pastel portrait of Captain John Ladd. The work shows the sitter seated half-length dressed in typical period gentleman’s clothing. The quality of the work is evident although it is not signed. There is a detailed history on the reverse about Captain Ladd and the history of the work. The frame is the original and in good untouched worn condition. The whole has a great period look and is ready to hang. C.1810.
