Fine Musical 8 Bell Oak Bracket Clock
This is a fine English bracket antique clock dating from the second half of the 19th Century which retains its original wall bracket.
The massive triple fusee chain driven 8 day duration movement strikes the quarter hours on a choice of either 8 (Whittington ) or 4 (Westminster) graduated bells and the hours are struck on a coiled gong. There is facility on the beautiful silvered brass and engraved dial for time regulation , bell tune selection and strike silent.
It is of the finest quality as produced in London at the time and is in perfect working condition having been totally stripped and professionally serviced.
The original blued steel hands are also present.
The dial centre is well engraved with the name of Charles Davies and Son , 3 Grove Terrace, Notting Hill (London). There is a Charles William Davies recorded as working as a clockmaker in London from from 1851-81.This clock would date circa 1860 and is genuine and original.I offer a full money back guarantee to this end.
The case is made from solid English oak that has developed a lovely colour and finish , all of which is original.
It is rare to find such antique clocks with their original wall bracket and I always think that the clocks look better together. This clock needs no restoration and is ready to be displayed.
Like all antiques there are the odd age related marks as can be expected on any item of this age but I am certain that the most discerning client will not be disappointed.
Clocks such as this were bought by only the wealthiest clients when new and were of the finest possible quality being sold for the same price as three or four terraced houses. This quality has still not been surpassed. This clock represents outstanding value for money.
Any potential clients are very welcome to view the clock prior to purchase (or pay on delivery)to ensure that they are satisfied with their purchase.
This clock is much nicer in the flesh and looks superb . I am certain that the buyer will be delighted with their purchase.
The clock itself is 30 inches tall (to the very top of the centre finial) , the widest part of the clock is 17 3/4 inches and it is 9 inches deep.
Mounted on the bracket this item is 43 inches tall , 19 1/2 wide and 11 deep.
If the buy it now price is paid in full then I will deliver and set up the clock free of charge to the English mainland,Wales and the Scottish lowlands.I will also provide a 12 months guarantee under these circumstances. This is the same service that is provided by a high street retailer without the customer having to pay for the overheads
