An Exquisite Antique English Creamware Jug.
Charming in every respect, this beautiful little cream jug is fairly early and dates to around the last quarter of the 18th century (c.1775)
The body is very finely potted and features a beautiful, double (interlaced) strap handle, affixed to the body with moulded floral sprigs/studs, and the whole sits on a neatly turned foot.
The decoration consists of polychrome floral painted sprays to each side in iron red, black, yellow, green and purple enamels.
The main cream colour of the body is soft and warm in hue.

Condition In fair to good condition for age, but not perfect. The issues are retained to the pouring lip only and rest of the jug is in excellent order - including the delicate handle. There are two short hairline cracks to the rim, near the pouring lip.....one of which in fact may be a firing split. There are also a number of tiny nibbles to the underside of the tip of the pouring lip. The indentation to the upper rim, at mid point between the lip and handle is an indentation (manufacturing) and not a chip. Please refer to the last few photos which show these faults in detail. All in all the condition can be considered very respectable, for such an old and fragile jug.
