English Fusee Dropdial Wall Clock
A quality dropdial wall antique clock with a convex dial and glass. A 12" painted dial signed 'J Matthews Bristol'. A cast brass bezel to the domed glass. A mahogany case of slim proportions with brass inlays to the base. An 8-day duration fusee mechanism with shaped plates. Circa 1840.
J Matthews of Bristol is recorded in AJ Moores 'Bristol Clockmakers' book as working at Stapleton Road from 1838-1849.
