Edwardian Empire Style Walnut Bedside Cabinet
A lovely antique walnut French bedside cabinet. We date this cabinet to the very early 20th century.
The cabinet sits on four cabriole legs and has a lovely inset white and grey marble top with rounded corners.
The cabinet has a drawer over a cupboard, the cupboard door frontage has two false drawers and has a ceramic liner internally.
The cabinet has decorative gilded mouldings applied at the top of the front canted corners. The drawer fronts and side panels have an inlaid design and with a lovely quarter veneered finish to the side panels and the false drawers. The drawer has a brass button handle and the two false drawers have decorative drop handles.
The cabinet has an overall height of 32.5" (82cm), a width of 16" (40cm) and a depth of 14" (46cm).
This attractive cabinet remains in very good solid condition with only very minor surface markings commensurate with age and usage. There is some wear to the marble including some marks. The rear top edge of the cabinet has been modified to fit the marble top which has been replaced at some time in the past.
This remains a very stylish & elegant cabinet. It could serve well as either a bedside cabinet or as a side cabinet. It will continue to provide sterling service for many years to come.
