Pair of Carved Mahogany Bedside Cabinets
A refined pair of carved mahogany bedside cabinets, each surmounted by a rectangular marble top, and executed in a classical revival style. The cabinets display well-figured mahogany throughout, finished in a warm, polished tone that highlights the quality of the timber and the depth of the carving.
Each cabinet features a rectilinear case articulated by turned mahogany column supports at the corners, lending architectural presence and visual balance. The upper frieze is finely carved with continuous foliate and scrolling ornament and incorporates a shallow, full-width drawer, fitted with a turned wooden knob. Below, a single-panelled mahogany door opens to a shelved interior, providing enclosed storage. The doors retain matching turned wooden knobs, consistent with the overall design.
The cabinets are raised on a moulded and reeded plinth base, enriched with applied rosette motifs and standing on boldly carved, scrolled feet with floral detailing. The marble tops provide a durable and elegant surface, offering contrast to the warm mahogany below and making the cabinets suitable for lamps or decorative objects.
