EB Monogram Oil Portrait Of A Lady 1890 / 1910
We are delighted to present this lovely portrait oil on canvas of an attractive young lady in evening dress, signed by the artist with the monogram EB. The painting depicts a half length portrait of a young lady with dark curly hair, who is wearing a burgundy coloured, off the shoulder evening dress with a deep cream lace frill threaded around the neckline. She is wearing a matching ribbon choker. She has a cream evening cape or coat, with what appears to be a mongolian lamb shaggy fur collar, loosely draped over her shoulders.
This is a lovely portrait, with the subject full of life, about to enjoy her evening entertainment. However, we have been unable to identify the artist. The only EB we could find that occasionally painted portraits, was Elizabeth Butler, but her subjects were military.
The painting has been newly framed in a lovely 3 5/8" wooden frame with a softly toned beige and gold finish, which suits it very well. It will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
Image size: 29 3/8" x 24 1/4" - 72cm x 61.55cm
Frame size: 36 3/4" x 31 5/8" - 93.35cm x 80.35cm
Medium: Oils on canvas
Condition: Very good. The canvas has been cleaned and revarnished. There are eight minor repairs to the canvas, as shown, but nothing is visible to the front. There is a slight stretcher mark along the top and some minor craquelure consistent with age.
