Early Winchcombe Pottery Slipware Earthenware Dish
AUGUST SALE. REDUCED PRICES UNTIL THE END OF THE MONTH!
A Good Winchcombe Pottery Press-Moulded Slipware Dish.
This is an early example of Winchcombe slipware, dating to around the late 1930's to early 1940's. The body press-moulded from the local red earthenware, and finished with a nicely detailed pie-crust rim. The interior richly decorated with a bright yellow-ochre slip glaze, beneath a thickly-piped slip design in dark brown, contrasting to beautiful effect.
The underside impressed with the large, old Winchcombe Pottery seal mark.
This lovely piece was probably made by Ray Finch (1914 - 2012)...or just possibly Michael Cardew (1901 - 1983). A good addition to any Winchcombe or Studio Pottery collection.
Perfect for display or use as originally intended. Email or call for any further information on this item. We give great attention to each and every item we select and offer for sale, priding ourselves on the accuracy of our descriptions and research. We are very happy to provide complete and exacting condition reports (together with further photographs, where necessary) and encourage buyers to request this information prior to purchase.
Accepted payment methods are via paypal, bank transfer, personal cheque or cash.
Viewing of any item in person, prior to purchase, is always welcomed by appointment.
