Early Derby Porcelain Moulded Sauceboat c.1760
Pretty early Derby porcelain sauceboat painted in the style of the "cotton stem painter" with floral sprays, c.1758-1760. External moulding of the leaf formed reserves painted in a pale cyan and moulded detail of the morning glory type flowers and buds at either end of each side. A shaped gadrooned rim edged in red and set on a solid foot showing the patch marks and with some grinding to level off.
It measures 20cm (7 3/4") long, 10cm (4") wide and 11cm (4 3/8") high.
Condition is good with some points to note. The handle has been professionally repaired and restored near where it meets the body. There is a glaze frit to the tip of the thumb rest, a small chip to the foot and a further one underglaze. Inside the boat are some unusual firing faults causing bubbles to have risen in the clay but they do not show outside and the inside was still decorated with a floral spray in the base matching the decoration outside. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay by Stripe please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported.
Price includes UK shipping. Worldwide shipping is also available, please ask for a cost.
