An exquisitely decorated and rare Dutch Armada Chest, circa 1588 - 1600.

This phenomenally detailed chest, bears original 16th/early 17th century paintwork on its front facing, and side facing panels, as well as the top of the lid. The artwork contains red and white flowers, with greenery and decorative patterns woven amongst them. There are two panels on the front of the chest adorned with slightly different paintings, of buildings and structures instead.

The key (pictured) opens the chest to reveal a smaller lockable compartment inside, also with working lock and key function included.

The locking mechanism is partially covered by an intricately decorated panel, which features classical shapes and motifs worked into the metal.

A truly rare and stunning decorative piece to cherish, ideal for a larger space or setting.
