Drocourt Strike Repeat Alarm Carriage Clock %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
A fine example of a strike repeat alarm carriage antique clock by Drocourt, dated c. 1877/78. The condition of the gorge-styled case is perfect having been newly re-gilded.

The eight day movement benefits from having its original silvered platform. It strikes on a bell, giving a crisp clear sound. The movement is signed for Drocourt and numbered 14994. Drocourt's serial number 14560 has an engraved presentation dated 1877, so it is fair to speculate that this clock was made in 1877/78.

The enamel dials for time and alarm are both in perfect original condition, and set behind an engine-turned gilt mask.

Original matching breguet-style hands.

Height (handle up) 7" (17.5cms)

Overhauled and guaranteed for 3 years.

Pierre & Alfred Drocourt were among the top makers of carriage antique clocks in the mid to late Victorian period, having a factory at Saint-Nicolas-d’Ailermont in France, and in Paris at Rue Debelleyme 28 and Rue de Limoges.

Pierre & Alfred Drocourt made superb carriage clocks that were often decorative and were awarded numerous medals at exhibitions, such as the Bronze Medal at Paris 1867, the Silver at Paris 1878 and the gold at Paris in 1889.

The son, Alfred Drocourt, succeeded his father Pierre Drocourt sometime in the 1870s.
