Drocourt One-piece Carriage Clock
A newly regilded timepiece carriage antique clock by Drocourt in an early one-piece style of case. This style of case has a large viewing top glass to see the platform.
The clock movement is stamped with Drocourt’s trademark, a D and a C, separated by a carriage antique clock, and the serial number 7622.
The eight day movement retains the original silvered platform. The wheel crossings are curved, as was usual in Drocourt's early days, when they were using roulants blancs from H.L.
Perfect white enamel dial.
One-way fold-flat handle.
Pierre & Alfred Drocourt were among the top makers of carriage antique clocks in the mid to late Victorian period, having a factory at Saint-Nicolas-d’Ailermont in France, and in Paris at Rue Debelleyme 28 and Rue de Limoges.
Pierre & Alfred Drocourt made superb carriage clocks that were often decorative and were awarded numerous medals at exhibitions, such as the Bronze Medal at Paris 1867, the Silver at Paris 1878 and the gold at Paris in 1889.
The son, Alfred Drocourt, succeeded his father Pierre Drocourt sometime in the 1870s.
