Collier of Chapel Longcase Clock


An Oak eight day antique clock by Thomas Collier of Chapel-En-La-Frith (Derbyshire) The Brass silvered dial is signed Collier Chapel and Thomas was working between 1745and 1760.
This mainly Oak cased example is in very fine condition and is a rich Red/Brown Oak colour. Its stands 6ft 6in with a 12in square brass dial with separate chapter ring. Being located closer to Manchester than Derby the case is Manchester looking in its appearance and the Collier family are a well known and respected family of Clock makers from in and around Manchester .
The eight day running movement is is good running order and as usual strikes the hours . The whole clock is very original and in fine condition and the case extremely solid with no loose joints of moldings.
Thomas Collier is listed as working in Chapel-En-La-Frith in Derbyshire clockmakers by Maxwell Craven as well as numerous other clock books.
