Bowl of Roses Oil Painting after Cecil Kennedy
We are offering for sale this unsigned Oil Painting on Board after the renowned British flower painter Cecil Kennedy, who was celebrated for his beautiful still life painters of flowers in minute details. The frame bears a plaque, which has some age, entitling the painting 'Roses Cecil Kennedy'.
Cecil Kennedy 1905-1997. was born in Leyton on 4th February 1905. His grandfather, father and four of his uncles were also artists. He is know for his detailed floral still life paintings, symptomatic of the Dutch and Flemish Old Masters, with whose work he became closely acquainted during WWII.
His wife Winifred Aves created the beautiful arrangements of flowers that he painted and they worked closely as a team. He exhibited at the RSA, RHA and RA, the Paris Salon and leading London Galleries.
In the late 1980s he gave up painting due to failing eyesight. He died in St. Albans on 12th December 1997.
The painting is framed in a 2 7/8" heavy gilt frame and will be supplied wired and ready to hang.

Medium Oils
Condition Very good. There is no craquelure or paint loss and the surface is clean. The frame is in good condition with very minor wear consistent with age.
