Blue Enamel Stratton Compact Mirror Early 1950s
A stunning blue white and floral enamel Stratton compact mirror which was crafted between 1948 and the early 1950s. This delightful powder compact is in excellent unused condition and it is presented with all the original accessories.
This mid-century antique is ideal as an addition to any collection or for use with loose foundation or as a stylish handbag mirror. This compact model (with different lid adornments) has only three known years of availability - 1948, 1952 and 1953. This design known as "Four Panels" was inspired by a Royal Worcester cup and saucer in the Sevres style c.1770 -1780. The base is also enamelled. The compact was lacquered during the manufacturing process and so it will not tarnish or need to be cleaned. The interior case contains an excellent clear mirror framed by a bezel signed STRATTON. The inner lid is also signed Stratton. The compact is fitted with an automatic opening inner lid which works perfectly, as do all hinges and catches. Measures 3 1/2 inches diameter and weighs 132.2 grams.
