Bloor Derby Porcelain Chocolate Cup & Cover c.1825
A pretty Derby porcelain chocolate cup with tapering sides and unusual shaped handles with moulded acanthus leaves across the thumb rest area and lower terminal. The cover with curved stepped edge and ring shaped knop with moulded acanthus leaves. The cup has a scene very finely painted in sepia enamel of three putti or young children dancing around a brazier. The other side has a bold gilt pattern of stylised flower and foliage and matching decoration to the cover. Gilt rims and details to the handles and knop. Red painted mark, c.1825.
It measures 9cm (3 1/2") high with the cover on, 6.8cm (2 5/8") to the rim and 12cm (4 3/4") wide across the handles.
In very good condition with no damage, repair or restoration. There are tight firing lines in the glaze part way around the base of each arm of the knop. Some rubbing to the gilt on the rim of the cup but otherwise handling war is minimal. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay by Stripe please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported.
