A wonderful mid-century compact which is ideal for use with loose foundation, as a sought-after collectible or an attractive handbag mirror. This compact is from the Old China range. Both the lid and base are enamelled. All the original accessories are present - box, luxurious felt lined pouch, puff, sifter, leaflet and guarantee rosette. The compact lid is embellished with vibrant enamel. This design is known as Panels of Horned Flower Baskets, which was inspired by a Royal Worcester Dessert Dish c.1770. The base is also enamelled. The compact was lacquered during the manufacturing process and so it will not tarnish or need to be cleaned. The interior case contains an excellent clear mirror framed by a bezel signed STRATTON. The inner lid is signed Stratton. The compact is in very good condition and it is fitted with an automatic opening inner lid which works perfectly, as do all hinges and catches. The mirror gives a good and accurate reflection. Measures 3 1/2 inches diameter and weighs 131 grams.
