Art Deco 9ct Gold Checkerboard Cuff Links, 1925
Here we have a very stylish pair of Art Deco 9ct Gold Cuff Links from the 1920s. The chain linked cuff links have a checkerboard design made up of alternating squares of yellow and white gold with an engine turned finish. They come supplied in a modern gift box.
The cuff links are made in Birmingham by The Albion Chain Co and date to 1925. Brothers Frank and Walter Hayes Rabone founded the Albion Chain Co around 1900, taking the company name from their premises in Albion Street in Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter. Despite the company name they made many different pieces of antique jewellery, not just chains. The company became part of S. Blanckensee & Son Ltd around 1933 but continued under the Albion name up until the 1950s.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings, dents or damage. They have been worn but probably not very often. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each checkerboard is 1.2cm square and the chain linked pairs are 2.4cm long. All together they weigh in at 6.7g of solid 9ct gold.
The hallmarks on the undersides of the cufflinks are well struck and clear to read. They have the no.9 and the .375 stamps to show that they are 9ct gold, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter A for 1925 and the ACCo makers' mark for The Albion Chain Co.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the cuff links.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
