Edwin Earp 1851- 1945
Edwin Earp is believed to be the eldest son of Henry Earp senior, head of a large family of artists. The Earps of Brighton like so many of the dynasties of English watercolourists are veiled in obscurity. They were prolific landscape and coastal painters.
Edwin Earp was perhaps the most prolific of the family and painted across the British Isles and in Europe, with paintings in Scandinavia and Germany just 2 of the areas recorded. He favored landscapes and especially mountainous scenes in Germany, Scotland, Wales and the Lake District. His paintings would have found a ready market and are equally very popular today. He is also believed to have painted under the pseudonym L Lewis, probably as a result of being contracted to an art dealer or, more likely, a publishing house.
The images are the best I could achieve due to the Flash. This also effected the true colours shown on the painting.

Condition The watercolour is in very good condition and always been kept behind glass. pencil and old glue markings on rear. Very light brown mark where I think the old frame would have been this is very un-noticeable and should be hidden when framed.
