This is an antique pluviometer set. An English, copper and glass meteorological rain gauge, dating to the Victorian period and later, circa 1900.
Fascinating and comprehensive rain measurement device
Displaying a desirable aged patina - finely weathered with age
Patinated copper shows bright amber and verdigris hues
Aged glass bottle graced with characterful mottled appearance
In five parts, with the funnel, main cylinder, internal reservoir, glass bottle and measuring tube
Sitting atop the main cylinder, the funnel engraved 'Rain Gauge 5" with HH & P, London' makers mark
Internal reservoir in copper dressed with a small carry handle
Glass bottle marked 'E 40' to the base
Later measuring tube by PSL with a diameter of 5"
Scale etched to glass from 0 to 50
Glass tube in very good order, replete with storage box
Associated rain measuring sheets supplied
