An Extremely Fine Regency Rosewood Centre / Breakfast table
An extremely fine early 19th Centre breakfast table in the manner of Gillows of Lancaster.
This well-proportioned and very fine rosewood table has been constructed to the highest of standards dating to circa 1820 believed to made by Gillows of Lancaster.
The large circular top having finely chosen rosewood bookmatched veneers with a gadrooned edge below the frieze.
Supported on a triangular panelled tapering base resting on a concave triform base having gadrooning to all edges with the whole being raised on wonderfully cast and chased original solid brass lion paw feet with castors.
In excellent condition having been restored using traditional methods this is a fine addition to any home.
The quality and design point to the famous cabinet makers of the 19th Century Gillows of Lancaster, the brass gilt feet are of the finest detail and quality of which can be seen on various Gillows pieces in the book by Susan E. Stuart. The rosewood veneered top is again of the quality and choice of veneer that can been seen on other Gillows rosewood table one which sold in Christie’s recently.
