Mahogany Extending Dining Table - London Makers
Solid Cuban Mahogany Extending Dining Table With Three Removable Original Leaves.
A solid Mahogany Victorian extending wind-out dining table of good size, would seat 10 people 12 at a push.
H.MAWER & STEPHENSONS, LONDON this is stamped on the inside extension rails. H.Mawer & Stephenson. H. Mawer & Stephenson are listed in The Dictionary of English Furniture Makers, London based. They had a large premises at one point in the Fulham Road, London.
The table is in super condition and is ready for any home or office. The dining table has no major cracks to the top and all leg joints are firm. Under frame has nice moulding to the edge.
The polish is in super condition all over. We have professionally lightly cleaned the whole table and waxed it, so fully ready to use. A great item that has stood the test of time.
Estimated age around 1890.
Made from the very best Cuban Mahogany, handmade by master craftsmen of the time.
The table has a superb colour, very even across the whole top and leaves.
The table winder thread is made by Joseph Fitter of Birmingham as shown. The table opens and closes very well. Comes with a winding handle to open and close the table.
The legs are a classic turned shape with nice carved reeded detail. Sits on a set of brass with brown china wheels.
No woodworm can be seen.
The table is a wind-out to increase its length, you can add the leaves three, two or just one. The table can then be closed down to a circle when more space is required making it very adaptable for your family or office requirements.
