An Arts & Crafts, Shapland & Petter oak wardrobe


In beautiful quarter sawn oak, standing on bracket feet above which are 3 drawers. The center, mirrored door and left hand side are for hanging, the right hand door conceals shelving. In very good, original and un-restored condition. 1690mm wide, 565mm deep and 2080mm high. Circa 1900.
Founded in the 1850's by Henry Shapland and Henry Petter, an accountant joined the firm shortly after. Located in Barnstable the business grew quickly building their reputation on quality antique furniture in a variety of styles but it is for their Arts and Crafts pieces that they are best known. W J Gravener Antiques is a family owned business, started in 1963 by William who was joined by son, Mark in 1981 and continues today with the same ethos of dealing in fine quality English and Continental furniture, mirrors and decorative objects, from the 18th & 19th centuries. Now under the stewardship of Mark and his wife, Louise, we take pride in maintaining the high standards which William set more than 50 years ago.
