A set of 4 Chinese Views c 1845.
Modern hand coloured steel engraved prints presented in a gilded bamboo-style wooden frame with acid-free olive green mount with plant threads.
These delightful prints are from Thomas Allom's 'China Illustrated', publ. by Fisher, Son & Co., in London, 1843-47. they show typical Chinese street scenes and everyday life as seen through the eyes of an Victorian illustrator The Pria Grance, Macao Sowing Rice at Soo-chow-foo Transplanting Rice Chapel in the great Temple, Macao.
Allom was an English artist, architect & topographical illustrator. He was a founder member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and designed many buildings in London and worked with Sir Charles Barry on numerous projects, most notably the Houses of Parliaments.
This set will enhance an oriental inspired drawing room, a hallway or stair case or study. Payment can be made with cash, cheques, money transfer, PayPal and most credt/debit cards.
Postage and packing is not included in the price.
