A Regency Bracket Clock by Hutchinson, London


A late Regency mahogany English bracket/table antique clock of smaller proportions. Pale mahogany veneers with ebonised banding. A cast brass bezel to the convex dial with blued steel 'moon' hands. Side handles and well cast side sound fretwork panels. Brass bun adjustable feet. A well engraved backplate and pendulum to the double fusee mechanism of 8-day duration striking the hours on a bell. Signed 'Geo. Hutchinson Clapham' to the dial and a lovely old label inside the case base showing the maker's details.
George Hutchinson of Clapham, London is recorded in Loomes' 'Watchmakers and Clockmakers of The World' book as working from 1828 - 1851. This example dates to circa 1830.
