A fine quality Davenport with exceptional figuring and colour to the timber, having a turned gun barrelled pillars terminating in high quality acanthus carvings. The sloped fall retaining the original gilt tooled brown leather with a turned gallery rail. The fall top opens to reveal a Satinwood interior with an arrangement of 2 drawers and storage well. There is a concealed pen tray to the side along with 2 Satinwood slides. The panelled door concealing 4 solid Mahogany drawers with turned Mahogany handles. The whole raised on a plinth base with inset castors. Retains all the original locks, handles and fittings , having good colour and lustre. Circa 1840, Attributed to Gillows.
