This is a very good quality set of eight splat back Regency dining chairs, circa 1830.

This is a very good quality set of eight splat back Regency dining chairs, circa 1830 which boast a classic Regency elegant simple design. This style of antique furniture was made famous by the renowned designer, Thomas Hope in England during the early 1800’s. The set consists of two carver chairs with a reeded frame and down swept shaped arms. Likewise, the six side chairs feature a reeded frame. The chairs feature turned legs. The backs of the chairs feature a flame mahogany back rest. The sprung seats have recently been re-upholstered in a grey / fawn colour fabric and are extremely comfortable. All chairs are made from top quality mahogany and are firm and solid.

Condition Report
These chairs are in very good condition and commensurate with the age of the chairs. All chairs are free of wood worm, solid in joint and are ready to use. The sprung seats have been recently re-upholstered in a grey / fawn fabric and are extremely comfortable. One of the carvers has been made in the mid 20th century to increase the set from seven chairs to a set of eight. The later armchair is an exact match to the original armchair. Three of the side chairs have had minor restoration to the top of the back rests but they are now completely solid in joint and ready to use. The original carver armchair has some fading to the polish on back of the chair (caused by sun light). All in all, this is a solid, clean good quality and comfortable set of chairs for the money.
