2 x Early 20th C Silver Plate Pickle Forks
This is a good quality Pair of Early 20th Century Silver Plate Pickle Forks in the classic Old English pattern. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The pickle forks were made in Sheffield by Atkin Brothers and date to between around 1900 and 1920. Tracing its roots back to Thomas Law in the mid-18th century, the Atkin family took sole control of the business in 1840, first as Henry Atkin & Co and then from 1853 as Atkin Brothers. The firm manufactured both silverware and electroplate in Sheffield and also had a London showroom. They ceased trading in 1958.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents, no significant plate loss and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each pickle fork is 18.3cm / 7.2ins long and the pair together weigh in at 52.7g / 1.8oz.
The forks are stamped on the undersides of the stems with EP for silver plate, A1 for the highest quality silver plate and the HA EA FA makers' mark for Harry Atkin, Edward Atkin and Frank Atkin of Atkin Brothers.
Shipping in the UK is £5 by Royal Mail Tracked 24.
