The adorable Lucite lid decoration makes this vintage compact a suitable 1st (plastic) wedding anniversary gift. Lucite is a transparent plastic which was developed in 1928. It became commercially available in 1933 thanks to the endeavours of German firm Röhm & Haas AG. This 1950s glitter foil and Lucite compact mirror is a Mascot branded accessory. A Lucite dome houses a beautiful reverse carved Lucite floral display. The deep crimson roses and two tone green leaves are perfectly gorgeous. The surrounding brass on the lid has a rich deep golden patina and a complex engraved design. The lid lifts to reveal a good mirror which gives an accurate reflection. The powder well contains the original puff which is signed 'Mascot ASB'. The base has an turned design. This charming vanity is in excellent condition. The original beige felt pouch is included. Measures 3" and weighs 72.5 grams.
