Delightful mid 19th.c. Welsh folk art seascape on glass c.1860. Painting on glass employs a remarkable reverse process whereby forground detail is added first before the colour blocks and background. In an unusual scene with a charming naive scale a man poles a small boat through the surf toward a boat under sail. In the backgrounds stands a wooden pier or quayside and two pointed top watch towers very simialr to those found in Ireland. Bright colours and lovely detail to the waves.
