19th Century Chinese Watercolour Painting on Pith gouache chinese pith %%alt5%%
This is a beautiful Chinese watercolour painting on pith with exquisite detail which dates from the 19th century. The painting is well executed in vibrant gouache colours and shows an exotic pair of mountain lowrykeets (lorikeets / parrots) sitting in the boughs of a blossoming tree. It is set off by its original gilded mount and set within a soft green marbled frame which suits it well. The painting is a good size, measuring 39 cms by 32 cms overall and is in very good condition save for a very small loss to the pith, seen in the photos bottom left. We currently have listed another similar painting in similar frame of other exotic birds, silver pheasants. Please get in touch should you be interested in both.
