1970s Jaeger leCoultre Atmos Clock
A brushed brass Atmos timepiece by Jaeger-LeCoultre, serial number 366857, Calibre no. 528-8, in excellent condition, dated 1972.
Atmos antique clocks are known as perpetual motion antique clocks, as they require no winding. An aneroid chamber mounted on the back of the movement contains a mixture of liquid and gas which expands and contracts with movements in temperature, and this motion winds the mainspring. Even a one degree change in temperature is sufficient to wind the antique clock for 2 days' duration.
The movement has a rotating pendulum balance and torsion escapement.
The round white dial is applied with gilt batons and Arabic numerals for the quarters, with dagger-style hands.
The brushed brass five-glass case has canted corners, with flip-front glass door, the base with levelling screws.
We are proud to be one of the UK’s finest suppliers of high quality Antique Clocks. We are based in Somerset, but also serve the rest of the UK. We are also delighted to have a number of overseas customers.
The workshops have recently relocated to Somerset and we continue to stock a large range of antique clocks and new clocks at very competitive prices.
