1950s Musical Powder Box Kigu Compacts
A 1950s musical Kigu ' Concerto ' powder box. The music box is beautifully finished, the gilt lid is satinized golden enamel. In the middle of the lid is a cartouche & a diamond cut border.
This adorable musical powder box has a Thorens Swiss movement which plays very well.
The mirror gives a beautiful clear reflection. The inner case is the typically ornate - the excellent quality you would expect from Kigu. The inner lid is signed " KIGU " within the triangular trade mark. The Kigu registered sliding catch holds the lid in place. The case bears " Concerto " in embossed letters.
The original pink velour edged sifter has not been used with powder. The base has scalloped edges & an engine turned designs of a fine spiral with radians. It is signed ' KIGU MADE IN ENGLAND'. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. This mid-century music box measures 8.5 cm x 7 cm and weighs 114.7 grams. Free lavishly illustrated history of this piece included.
