1900s Watercolour Beauty in a Lace Tea Gown
We are offering for sale this absolutely beautiful Edwardian watercolour of a Lovely Lady in a White Lace Tea Gown by an unknown artist. It is a great shame and very surprising to us that an artist with the obvious talent that this one has wouldn't sign their work, but we have looked on the back of the piece and on the old frame and there was no indication of his or her identity.
The painting depicts a very attractive Edwardian Lady, with her dark blonde hair softly pulled back to frame her face, wearing a white lace tea gown, with high net neck and long ruched sleeves, capped with the white lace edged over bodice. She has a locket around her neck on a chain, containing a miniature of a gentleman and is wearing a bangle on her right wrist. She is standing and leavning on the back of a carved corner chair, and has a couple of very pale pink roses in her left hand.
The watercolour is mounted in its original gilt mount, but we have inserted an inner mount of acid-free mountboard to protect the painting. It is framed in a 3 3/4" ornate cream and gilt frame to complement the watercolour.
Image size: 23 1/4" x 19" - 59cm x 49.25cm
Frame size: 33 1/2" x 29 1/2" - 85cm x 75cm
Medium: Watercolours
Condition: Very good. The inner mount is new, the gilt mount is in good condition, and the frame is new.
