Elizabeth Walsh born 1946 Watercolour Nuthatch
We are offering for sale this beautifully eecuted and observed watercolour of a Nuthatch by the Cumbrian artist Elizabeth Waldh, who has signed the painting to the lower right. The painting depicts a nuthatch, in its customary upside down position, perched on an ivy shrouded tree trunk. As the ivy has berries the scene depicted is between November and January, when the berries are a welcome source of food for birds at a time of scarcity.
Elizabeth Walsh was born in Carlisle, Cumbria in 1946 and studied at Carlisle Art College, followed by Waltham Forest Polytechnic. She gained her degree in textile design at the Royal College of Art. She started work as a textile designer but has turner more to her own paintings. She draws and paints nature and wildlife, flowers and plants feature in her artwork and designs, which she executes in meticulous detail, as in this watercolour.
She is an elected Member of the Lake Artists Society and exhibited regularly there.
NB: She is not tobe confused with the contemporary American artist of the same name.
The painting is double mounted in two tone mountboard and is framed in a brown wooden frame to suit. It will be supplied with new brass hangers, new brass picture wire and will be ready to hang.
