Very attractive late 18th.c. French inlaid oak dower chest or coffer c.1790. Long low dimensions typical of the form with superb ebony and boxwood inlays to the four front panels. Decorative brass stud work, pierced steel escutcheon plate and shaped feet. Some old marks to the top, otherwise beautiful colour and condition, with original hinges, lock and key. The flat (rather than panelled) top and height make it ideal as a television stand.
