18thC Derby Figure Flower Seller Candlestick
Fabulous early Derby figural candlestick of a "flower seller" resplendent in beautifully painted bright enamels. Standing on a gilded scrolled base, set against a tree trunk with the candle holder on top of a rising branch to his side and surrounded by flowers and bocage. There is a basket of fruit and flowers on a stump to his left and the candle sconce is decorated in matching colours with a leaf effect drip catcher. Patch marks to the base this model dates to c.1765.
He measures 9 1/2" high, 7" wide and 4 1/4" deep. Condition is very good with no body damage or restoration. There are a few small chips to the bocage and flowers, and a few to the ribbons on his shoes and hat. The candle sconce moves freely on its bolt. There is an intermittent firing line to the top part of his left arm. Lovely bright enamels. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay by Stripe please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported.
