This is a most unusual 18th century hanging corner cabinet with painted polychome detail depicting a figure of a King seated upon a throne with knights and entourage surrounding him. The scene is of a large Bedouin type tent with the King sat at the top of a grand marble staircase with pairs of impressive carved marble lions on every step. The foreground is a marble tiled piazza type flooring and the sides of the cabinet have the attendants, clergy and noblemen surrounding the King. The cabinet is an early example that dates from around 1750. This is in a good distressed antique condition, with some losses to the gesso but the scene is mostly complete. The doors have a working lock and key and the original hinges, (left bottom hinge has an extra added hinge below it for reinforcement, not really noticable). The cabinet has its original shaped shelved interior and original backboards. This is a most unusual cabinet, probably a one off, and has great antique charm and character. This measures 87 cms high 58 cms wide and 38 cms deep.
