18th Century Liverpool Creamware Plate
Charming creamware plate decorated with a cheerful bird painted in expressive brushstrokes, dating from c. 1780.
The plate is unmarked, but the blueish tinge to the glaze indicates possible Liverpool origins.
The plate is in good condition - there are faint, wear related scratch marks to the surface of the plate and the glaze has rubbed slightly around the rim. There is a small firing fault on the underside of the rim (see 4th photo) which does not show on the front of the plate and a small hairline crack, 3cm long which does not show at the front.
