William IV Rosewood Two-Tier What-Not
This attrative antique what-not dates from c.1830. It is constructed from what we believe to be rosewood and walnut. It is a handsome piece and would probably have originally been used to hold drinks or glasses. The what-not has two round tiers with turned spindle galleries and a central turned column terminating in a tripod base.
Condition Overall this handsome piece is in usuable condition, but does have some wear consistent with age and use and would benefit from some tlc. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the piece is overall faded, particularly so to the top. One of the spindles on the gallery of the top tier is broken and missing and some of the others are damaged (with some minor losses). The piece shows some signs of old restoration and re-gluing. The top tier gallery edge has some cracking and damage and some signs of old repair. The lower tier gallery edge has a crack in it. There are some ring marks to the top.
The approx. measurements are as follows
Overall - 73.5cm high, 40cm diameter of top (to maximums).
