Vintage Norwegian 830 Silver Serving Slice, M Aase
This is a very stylish Vintage Norwegian 830 Silver Serving Slice. The top of the stem has a pierced design of scrollwork topped by a crown, whilst the oval shaped blade is also pierced with a design featuring two dolphins. The underside of the blade is elegantly engraved with the name Anna Kristine.
The serving slice was made by renowned Norwegian silversmiths Magnus Aase and dates to around the 1930s to 1950s. Magnus Aase founded his firm in Bergen, Norway in 1899. In 1902, Magnus and his brother Knut took over the renowned firm of Theodor Olsen and ran both companies as separate identities until the 1950s, when everything was consolidated as Theodor Olsens Eftf. Still run by the Aase family today the company was recently renamed Arven.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The serving slice is 21.3cm / 8.4ins long and 7.5cm / 2.9ins across the blade. It weighs in at a very respectable 75.6g / 2.67oz of solid silver.
The underside of the stem is stamped 830S for 830/1000 grade silver, NM for Norskt Mönster, the Norwegian design copyright mark, and the distinctive M A monogram makers' mark for Magnus Aase.
Shipping in the UK is £11 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the serving slice.
