Victorian Silver Fob, Herbert Bushell, 1900
This is a good size Victorian Sterling Silver Fob for attaching to a watch chain. It is shield shaped with a raised central shield cartouche. The cartouche has no initials or personalisation.
The fob is made in Birmingham by Herbert Bushell and dates to 1900, the last full year of Queen Victoria's reign. Starting out in the 1890s, Herbert Bushell was joined in partnership by his son in 1910. They are best known for their good quality watch fobs and remained in business together until the start of the First World War.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 120 years. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The fob is 3.9cm / 1.5ins from top to bottom and 3cm / 1.2ins wide. It weighs a respectable 5.4g / 0.2oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the bottom of one side of the fob are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter a for 1900 and the H.B makers' mark for Herbert Bushell.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
