Victorian Samuel Clarkes patent Pyramid food warmer.
A rare and interesting Victorian "Clarkes Pyramid Patent Food Warmer".
Clarke's first patent application for a fairy light was in 1857 and they subsequently produced many items based around the simple night light candle. This Samuel Clarke's 'Pyramid' food warmer, is a near complete example, made between the years 1888-1900. The design was registered in 1888.
This warmer comes with it's White ironstone pot and lid, tin tower with water cup and three candle holders (one with slight chip). There was originally a glass cone directing the heat from the candle to the tin above, but I have never seen one of these. These are very striking items and were popular to heat baby food and soup etc in the late Victorian period.
This scarce piece is in wonderful overall condition and displays beautifully. Please refer to the pictures for the most accurate description.
UK post £5.00.
