Collection of LMS Railway Cutlery
Collection of LMS Railway Cutlery.
Comprising three dessert forks, one dinner fork, two dessert spoons and a BTCS soup spoon.
All are silver plated.
Two dessert forks and one spoon are Mappin & Webb.
The dinner fork, one dessert fork and one dessert spoon are by Elkington.
The BTCS spoon is by Lambert & Blaber.
All date from circa 1930s,( one dessert spoon has the Elkington date letter for 1931), except for the BTCS spoon. The British Transport Catering Service operated from 1948-1963 so the spoon would come from that period.
All are ex-railway so they show a lot of surface marks from the daily use they had but have survived well due to being very good quality. One spoon has a lot of small dents like lines on the back of the bowl, please see photos.
Approximate dimensions: dessert forks 17-18cm, dinner fork 20cm, dessert spoons 18.5cm, soup spoon 17.5cm, total weight 367.5 grams.
