Victorian Gothic oak cylinder bureau desk bookcase
Antique Victorian Gothic 19C oak cylinder bureau secretaire roll top desk writing table bookcase.
This is a truely lovely piece of antique furniture with age, colour and patina.
Birds eye maple veneered fronts to the pidgeon drawers (the bottom 4 are faux) and other trim. There may have been two more drawers originally.
Pull out and lift up writing surface (some age wear and marks).
Some alterations have taken place over the years, adding to its charm.
Bureaux bookcases with cylinder type tops are rare and sought after.
Great style and proportions.
There is a key that fits the top and bottom doors, although the top lock is a bit sticky and could do with attention.
Would look fantastic in the right location.
All of the drawers slide freely
Splits into two halves for transport. Please check your ceiling height this is a tall piece of antique furniture.
Overall dimensions 1240mmW x 610mmD x 2360mmH (1120mmH bottom and 1240mmH top).
3 adjustable shelves1120mmW x 230mmD.
This piece of antique furniture has had historic knocks, marks, repairs and alterations as one may expect given its age. There would originally have been two handles on the pull our writing surface. These have been replaced with one in the centre over the top of the key hole. There is no key for the cylinder. One of the small internal knobs is slightly different. Possibly some finials have been removed from the top of the cornice.
Please note that this item is large and heavy. Please make sure before buying that it will fit in and can be maneuvered into the room that it is intended for. The customer will need to provide 1 strong able bodied person for our driver to assist with carrying.
