This is a superb French, Charles X mahogany commode chest, in splendid condition with a wonderful rich colour, dating from around 1830. The substantial chest has beautiful decorative gilt bronze handles and escutcheons which have wonderful detail. The chest has a secret upper frieze drawer integral to the curved design with three substantial drawers beneath with ornate metalware. All drawers run freely in the cabinet and give a substantial storage capacity. The flame mahogany is excellent throughout with a fabulous decorative grain and lovely rich colour and patina and the figured marble top is in beautiful clean condition.
A most handsome early French piece of the best quality.
