Solid Oak Elizabethan Settle Bench Pew %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
This beautiful example of a fantastic period piece of antique furniture features a highly carved decorative back.

With chequered fruitwood inlay to the back panels and side arms, the top rail is decorated with acorns, as well as the bottom frieze. The settle has a unique feature the two centre acorns unscrew to present secret hiding places.

The settle is carved to the rear with the date 1582.

We believe that during the Victorian period, brass castors were fitted to the bottom of the feet. Also, some pieces of timber have been spliced into the bottom of the legs which is not surprising due to its age, and as this piece of furniture would have been originally placed on a damp stone floor.

This piece is in lovely condition for its age, with signs of general wear and tear.
