The watch has a stem-winding movement, grade 610, which is working nicely. The nicely patterned movement is fully signed and the serial number 24,660,772 dates it back to around 1924. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which was originally engraved but the majority of it has been polished off at some stage. The inner cover is hallmarked for 1946 with a maker's mark for Aaron Dennison.
The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the outer covers for Birmingham 1948, again with a maker's mark for Aaron Dennison. The Dennison Watch Case Company manufactured cases for various watch manufacturers but the company had a particularly close relationship with Waltham.
The discrepancy in hallmark dates is not a concern as all components were manufactured by Dennison and taken from stores for assembly.
However the discrepancy in dates between the movement and the case suggests that the whole movement was replaced at some stage in its life, possibly a more economical option than a repair.
The case is in lovely condition, just a pin prick "ding" to the back. The engine turned detail is still nice and crisp. There is a cartouche to the front with initials.
The winding crown pushes in to open the case front.
Inside there is an acrylic lens set within a rose gold plated bezel.
The signed white enamel dial is in good condition with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
